Work with the plan

Open and create issues

The chart uses Jira's own issue view and create dialog, so you work with the fields, workflow and permissions you already have.

Open an issue

Click an issue's key, or double-click its row or bar. The issue opens in Jira's issue view on top of the chart: comment, change the status, assign it, edit fields. When you close it, the chart reads the issue again, so a new summary, status, assignee or date shows at once. If you deleted the issue there, it leaves the chart.

Create an issue

There are three ways:

  • + Create in the toolbar opens Jira's create dialog for this project.
  • + Create issue under the last row does the same.
  • Draw it: in the last row of the timeline ("Draw dates here to create an issue"), press and drag across the days it should take. The create dialog opens with the start and due date already filled in.

After you create it, the new issue appears in the chart, scrolled into view and selected. If your create screen has no date fields, the dates you drew are set on the issue right after it is created. Choose the issue type, parent and other fields in the dialog as usual; if you give it a parent that is in the chart, it appears under that parent.

Creating issues needs the Create issues permission in the project; without it these buttons are hidden.
