Questions and answers
Short answers, each with a link to the page that explains more.
Does the app copy my issues somewhere?
No. Every chart is read from Jira when it opens, as the person opening it. The app stores only what Jira has no place for: dependency type and lag, baselines, views and settings, in Atlassian's Forge storage of your site. See Permissions, data, licensing.
Which date fields does it use?
Jira's Start date and Due date by default, found by name in any Jira language. A Jira admin can pick other date fields in the settings.
Does it work with team-managed and company-managed projects?
Yes, both. Epics, stories and subtasks come from the parent field either way, and the story points field is found under both of its names.
Do I have to set anything up?
Usually not: install the app and open the Gantt tab of a project. An admin may choose the dependency link types, working days and holidays.
Will people get a flood of e-mails when I move the plan?
For project admins, date changes are saved without Jira's notification e-mails. For others, Jira sends its usual notifications for field changes.
Can someone change issues they may not edit in Jira?
No. Everything is done as the person on the chart, so Jira's permissions decide; the chart only offers what they may do.
Can I undo a change?
Yes: Ctrl+Z, or Undo in the message, for dates (with everything that moved along), removed dependencies, renames, assignees and parents. Status changes are made back with the status menu. See Move and schedule issues.
Is there AI in it, and who pays for it?
The Rovo agent uses Atlassian Rovo, which comes with the Standard, Premium and Enterprise plans of Jira Cloud; the app adds no AI costs of its own. Everything else is plain scheduling logic that runs without AI.
Can I bring a plan from Microsoft Project?
Yes, as MS Project XML (File → Save As → XML). See Import from MS Project. Exporting to MS Project works too.
We are moving off a Connect or Data Center Gantt app. Is our plan already there?
If your old app kept dates in Jira date fields and dependencies as Jira links, yes: open the chart and point the settings at those fields and link types. See Coming from another Gantt app.
How big can a plan be?
Up to 10,000 issues in one plan. See Limits and performance.
Can I plan across several projects?
Yes: give the chart a JQL filter over several projects, or use the Gantt page under Apps. See Filters, views and links.
Can I show the chart outside the Gantt tab?
On a Jira dashboard with the Gantt timeline gadget, as an image (PNG or SVG) via Export, and on each issue in its Gantt schedule item.
Does it work on a phone?
The chart is made for a computer screen. On a phone, Jira's own apps show the issues and their dates.
Which languages does it speak?
English, German and Spanish, following each person's Jira language; other languages show English.
What does it cost?
It is free for up to 10 users and then billed per user through the Atlassian Marketplace, with a free trial.
