Git sync
Connect GitLab
For projects on gitlab.com. You need admin rights in Jira and the Maintainer role in the GitLab project (needed to create the webhook).
1. Create a token on GitLab
Click the arrow next to Add new token and choose Legacy token.
GitLab's new fine-grained tokens are in beta; use the legacy type for now.
Enter a name (FeatureBridge) and an expiration date.
Under scopes, select api only.
Click Create token and copy it (it starts with
glpat-).
Premium or Ultimate
You can use a project access token instead (project → Settings → Access tokens, role Maintainer, scope api). It only works for that project. On the Free tier GitLab.com doesn't offer project access tokens.
2. Connect it in Jira
Open Jira settings → Apps → FeatureBridge.
Fill in the Git sync form:
- Git host: GitLab (gitlab.com)
- Group or user: the path before the project name, for example
acmeingitlab.com/acme/shop. For subgroups useacme/team. - Repository name: the project path, for example
shop - Branch and Folder with .feature files
- Access token: the token from step 1
Click Save. You should see Connected to GitLab ….
If the webhook could not be created
The settings page then shows a URL and a secret. In GitLab open the project's Settings → Webhooks → Add new webhook, paste the URL, paste the secret as Secret token and select Push events.
Existing files: click Import from the repository on the settings page (see Import scenarios).
