Get started
Install and connect a channel
You need to be a Jira administrator, and to have the Manage Webhooks permission in the Discord server.
1. Install the app
Open Chatline for Discord on the Atlassian Marketplace and click Try it free or Get it now.
Choose your Jira site and confirm the permissions.
2. Create a webhook in Discord
In Discord open the server menu → Server Settings → Integrations → Webhooks.
You can also open Edit Channel → Integrations on the channel itself.
Click New Webhook, give it a name (for example Jira) and choose the channel that should receive Jira updates.
Click Copy Webhook URL. It starts with https://discord.com/api/webhooks/.
Treat it like a password
Anyone with the webhook URL can post to the channel. Chatline stores it encrypted and never shows it again.
3. Connect the channel in Jira
In Jira open Settings (gear icon) → Apps → Chatline for Discord.
You can also find it in Atlassian Administration → Connected apps → Chatline → Configure.
Click Connect a Discord channel, enter a name and paste the webhook URL.
Optional: limit the channel to some issues with a JQL filter, and choose which changes to post.
Click Connect, then Send test message.
A message saying Chatline is connected appears in the channel. From now on, matching changes are posted within seconds.
