Jira updates in Zoom Team Chat

Chatline posts Jira changes to the Zoom Team Chat channels where your teams already talk. Each channel gets only the issues and the kinds of changes it asked for.

What it does

  • New issues, status changes, assignee and priority changes, comments and other field edits, each as a message with a link to the issue.
  • One channel, one filter. Connect as many channels as you need, each with its own JQL: the support team gets project = HELP, the release channel gets fixVersion = 2.0.
  • No spam from quick edits. Several edits of one issue within a minute arrive as one message.
  • Sprints and releases. A message when a sprint starts or ends and when a version is released, each with its issues.
  • Daily digest. One summary a day per channel: what changed, what is overdue, what is due soon.
  • Time reminder. Who logged less time than expected on the last workday.
  • Your own messages. A Send Zoom Team Chat message action for Jira Automation rules, with smart values.
  • Safe by default. Comments restricted to a role or group, internal notes in Jira Service Management and issues with a security level are never posted.
  • You can see it working. A test button, and per channel: how many messages were sent and the last error in plain words.

How it works

Zoom's own Incoming Webhook app gives a Team Chat channel an endpoint and a verification token. A Jira administrator pastes both into Chatline and chooses what the channel should receive. When an issue changes, Chatline checks each connected channel and posts a message to the channels that want it. No Zoom app of ours is installed, and Chatline cannot read your Zoom chats, meetings or contacts. Messages go one way: from Jira to Zoom.

What you need

Jira Cloud, and a Zoom account with Team Chat where the Incoming Webhook app from the Zoom App Marketplace may be added (your Zoom admin may need to approve it).

Each update is posted as its own message: Zoom Team Chat webhooks cannot start threads, so Chatline keeps the volume down by bundling quick edits instead.
